Tupao Avda

Summary

Tupao Avda is a name that many know, but a person that few see. The sole son and apprentice of the infamous magister, Sukozen Avda, one would assume that he would end up following in his father's footsteps. However, in spite of nearly a decade of training, he seems no closer to magehood than he was when he was freshly apprenticed.

Often hailed as the magister's embarassment, his reclusion from mage circles is no surprise. What was a surprise was his sudden disappearance from Orenomos after his father's death.

With many claiming him dead at the Soul Stealer's hands, just as many wonder- if he wasn't killed, where could he be?

Personality

Tupao is an anxious little guy. He has severe anxiety and self esteem issues stemming from his inability to do magic very well. He is a very avoidant person and tries his best to get out of situations rather than facing them. He is desperate for validation and will latch onto anyone who can support him.

History

Early Life

Tupao was born in Orenomos to Sukozen Avda and Aurea Torbin. Like most optera, Aurea was planning to give up the accidental clutch she and Sukozen had produced, but Sukozen hastily decided to take one egg in. Once hatched, Tupao was an extremely happy but very sickly child. He suffered from a disorder which caused his magic levels to be dangerously low, giving him severe autoimmune problems along with keeping him from any form of spellcasting.

Sukozen was terrified for his child, and in an attempt to get his magic levels up, apprenticed him as soon as he could at eight years old.

Abilities

Acid Spit

Due to his Optera heritage, Tupao is capable of spitting acid. This acid is relatively weak, but can be incredibly painful if it gets into the eyes, mouth, or any open wounds. He is unable to aim effectively and thus uses it very rarely.

Telepathy

Another factor of his optera genetics, Tupao has very weak telepathic abilities. He is only able to connect his mind with other optera/optera-hybrids and can only send vague thoughts and emotions. He experiences difficulty in receiving messages as well.

Shadow Travel

After training from Kaphla, Tupao is able to travel through and form shadows. This lets him teleport short distances and hide himself along with one other person. He is unable to outright attack with it.

Pulsar Draining

Due to Kaphla, Tupao is able to drain magic from the pulsars of others. This gives him an extreme boost to his own pulsar along with an emotional high afterwards. This ability can incapacitate, injure, disable, or even kill, so he is typically unwilling to use it. Most instances have occurred only in moments of extreme stress or emotion.
